Walk And Bike The Trails In The Great Lakes Bay Region Of Michigan

Whether you are cycling, walking, skating or skiing along the trails, you will always find abundant flora, fauna and outdoor fun. Travel the following trails in Bay City, Birch Run, Chesaning, Frankenmuth, Midland and Saginaw, to explore the natural beauty of the state of Michigan.

And, if you cannot bring your own equipment, in those cities there are many bike shops where you can rent bikes, in addition to other accessories. Just call ahead when you're ready to leave.

Bay City Riverwalk Rail Trail

The Bay City Riverwalk Rail Trail is a concrete and asphalt road designed for runners, cyclists and skaters. The 16-kilometre route surrounds the east side of Bay City and follows the west bank of the Saginaw River (Saginaw River). It connects a wide variety of city and county parks, and the part of the Riverwalk of the road winds along the river bank, and will allow you to see the boats that sail there, the historical indicators and the picnic areas. Take a break to recover on the catwalk and you may see a raised drawbridge that lets a sailboat through.

Pere Marquette Rail Trail

The Pere Marquette Rail Trail, once the railway line of Flint and Pere Marquette, is a 45-kilometre strip of cement that runs between Midland and Clare. The paved road, specially designed for bicycle rides, for skating or walking, is one of the 25 tracks of the Rails to Trails Conservancy Hall of Fame (US Railways Hall of Fame). UU The panoramic path crosses several bridges and passes shops and restaurants, where you can stop to enjoy a meal or simply to get some refreshment.

Saginaw Valley Rail Trail

The Saginaw Valley Rail Trail, which runs along the southern border of Saginaw before heading towards St. Charles, is a 16-kilometre road with bridges that offers views of the Bad River and the creeks. Marsh and Swan. The trail is a panoramic treasure with amazing summer foliage and signs that identify a great variety of flora. Wildlife is also attractive, including white-tailed deer, geese and swans. Along the way, there are public toilets, water dispensers, a fishing platform, gazebos and benches.

The Tridge

The extraordinary Tridge in Midland is a historic bridge, made of wood and three-way, which was built for the transit of pedestrians and bicycles. To better understand its unique structure, think of a “Y”, and to understand its name without equal, combines the words “tri” (three) and “bridge” (bridge). The Tridge has parked at all ends and with boats, canoes and kayaks that pass underneath. It is a common meeting place that crosses the Chippewa and Tittabawassee rivers near the centre of Midland. It is also the starting point of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail and Chippewa Nature Trail (5.6 km).
