What Are The Benefits of Transit Hotels?

The Globetrotters are well aware of the situation of trying to sleep coiled up on a hard plastic airport seats for hours while they await their next flight. But it doesn't have to be that way. Now Transit hotels are making long, multi-flight trips tolerable.

These are the short-stay hotels that are located within the security checks in at the airports as well as close to the terminals. The passengers can easily walk off the plane and check into a room to refresh themselves between their long flights. The best part of these hotels is that there is no visa required to stay over in a given country. The passengers can get to sleep during their stopover which makes them most beneficial for the travelers who are tired of the long journeys and require comfort while waiting for their next flight.

The other best thing about these hotels is that the rates at transit hotels vary but are often cheaper than at regular hotels which is also in the favor of the passengers. In most of these hotels, the minimum required stays average about six hours and a maximum time period is 24 hours. The standard amenities include a bed, desk, toilet, shower and Internet access, but many premium transit hotels include the modern and comfortable air-conditioned rooms equipped with the flat-screen TV, an ergonomic work desk, tea-coffee maker and electronic safe. Sometimes they even house spas or gyms as well.

As the business depends on a heavy flow of onward-bound passengers, transit hotels are nearly exclusive to busy transfer hubs, especially in Asia. One of the most popular transit hotels is at Singapore's Changi, one of the world's busiest airports and a frequent layover spot for flights to and from Asia. Even transit hotels in New Delhi Airport are conveniently located in the new Terminal 3, the hotels are a just a short walk to the departure gates for boarding. The transit hotels at Delhi airport is accessible to travelers from the International Wing Terminal 3 as well as the Domestic Wing Terminal 3.

The Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is noted as one of the busiest airports in Europe and its compact and clean “Yotel” hotel pods do good business which attracts many passengers to rest. One won't find in-airport transit hotels in Melbourne Tullamarine Airport or Sydney Airport's international terminal as Australia is not a common midway point for journeys.
