Why Do You Visit Pella On Your Next Vacation in Jordan?

The ancient city of Pella is located in the midst of the Jordan Valley. It's one of the cities of fabled Roman Decapolis.This is also of great importance for archaeologists as it reveals the evidence of 6000 years of continuous settlement.

The earliest remains of Pella include multitudearrays of Bronze Age tombs. Set in a pretty countryside in Jordan, Pella is at its best in the spring season as the floors of the Jordan Valley carpet with wildflowers.

Currently, you will find columns, a few buildings, and a small amphitheater in Pella. But it's still in the process of being excavated and many archeologists have a prediction that when it's restored completely, it will become at least as large as Jerash.

In fact, Pella in Jordan is considered to be a favorite for archaeologists as it's exceptionally rich in antiquities – some of them are very much older than others. Aside from this, the excavated ruins from the Greco-Roman period, Pella offers travelers a unique opportunity to explore the remains of a Chalcolithic settlement from the fourth millennium BC and the Bronze, Iron age walled cities.

Besides, you will visit Tabaqat Fahl is a contemporary village up-close to ancient Pella – the place where human presence dates back to around a quarter of a million years. Though the native inhabitants were initially nomadic by the Bronze Age, Pella had become a significant walled city.

Perhaps there's no other site in Jordan with anexact same span of history just like Pella. Situated at sea level about five kilometers from the Jordan Valleys, Pella portrays a spectacular sweep of history – especially from the Iron and Bronze ages to the Mamluks and Ummayeds.
