Whether you are on vacation or on a business trip, getting cheap flights is something anyone would like. But then, finding cheap flights is also not that easy. Here are some ways in which you can try and get some cheap flights. If you are planning on travelling at peak season, it would be best to book your flights as early as possible. Ideally 30 days before travel ensures that you get the cheapest flight tickets there are. The prices of tickets changes at 21 days, a fortnight, a week and then 2-3 days before travel. In the case of international flights booking 2 to 3 months in advance will ensure that you get a good deal.

Another trick is to buy your tickets at the last minute. Putting yourself on an open ticket means that the airlines will call you when they have a vacant seat. You will get this at a significantly lower price as airlines don't want flights to go empty. Always try and give yourself enough of time to buy tickets. This will allow you to look at as many aggregator sites as possible. What aggregator sites do is collect flight information from all possible airlines offering the route you are looking for. This allows you to compare and contrast prices and even work out deals with varying airlines.

When you buy your tickets online you should also try and subscribe to the newsletters of airlines you think you might be interested in flying on. These newsletters will give you first hand information on flight offers and you are bound to get a good deal this way. Also when it comes to such flights, many people choose to wait and see if the rates change. They do change, but you should know when to buy tickets and no wait endlessly.

Other ways of getting good tickets means using all your frequent flyer points to get discounts. Try and book your flights on discount airlines. These work out when you have more than one flight to catch. In case you have purchased your ticket and the prices go down then, you can always avail of a discount. This is a little known fact.
