Kolkata is a place worthy of being poetry. Well, the epitome of contradictions and the harmony of love are in every strain of life that makes Kolkata. Stereotype or not, the popular phrases 'City of Joy' or 'cultural capital of India' are often used way too frequently when it comes to the city. So I will restrain from it furthermore, though I empathise with the general nostalgia or what some would call paraphernalia.
The reason I'm writing this is because there is a major aspect of Kolkata as a city that is not spoken of much but is extremely impressive. For a corporate professional as I, most of travelling involves some kind of work-related opportunity. Firstly, travel blogs online almost never talk about business travelling in the same light as let's say a vacation. But for professionals like me travelling on work is a joy and undeniable part of everyday matters. I realise now that travelling for professional reasons can be fun and it was in Kolkata that I realised it.
First off all let me tell you what I do. I'm a corporate conference manager, which means my work is to organise various corporate events for organisations across India. It is only in Kolkata where the pace and method of working allows you to contemplate and find new truths about yourself that you otherwise would never have the time to find. No! Do not get me wrong. It is not a slow and lazy place as many call it. It's just a city in complete unison with itself and in peace. That kind of a setup lets you combine work and leisure in a great way.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the city and organise a seminar on technological securities for a brand that designs and builds drones. Unlike seminars held in Hyderabad or Bangalore, this one was one of a kind not because of some insane ideation on the event ideation front but just because of the place it was held in. Kolkata corporate conference venues have a spirit of their own. I guess he was not in a very jolly mood. It doesn't sound like the everyday corporate event venue; right? That is the kind of surprise Kolkata throws at every moment. Visit the great city for it's people, music, culture, food and joy.
