The city is named after its famous founder Alexander the Great. It was founded in 331 BC and became the capital of Graeco-Roman Egypt. The ancient Alexandria was the centre of learning and the witness to the fiery relationship of Cleopatra and Mark Antony. Today, Alexandria is the centre of commerce and bohemian culture. There is so much that the city has to offer to its visitors. It is well connected to all parts of the world, international airlines like Kuwait Airways offer regular flights to this destination.

The city is divided into two parts i.e. Old Alexandria and Nee. The old part of him offers tours to Dinocrates built Heptastadion, which is a causeway between Pharos and the main area. The New Alexandria offers a modern outlook with a mix of cultural influence in the region. Alexandria is indeed the perfect reflection of glorious Egyptian history.

Alexandria is famous for its underwater discoveries; the recent discoveries include two different sites. In the Suq district one can also witness the sole surviving Wakals, which are believed to be the part of El-Shorbagi Mosque complex. Alexandria also offers many special venues of shopping of jewelry, medicinal plants and Bedouin style clothing.

Another worthy place to visit in Alexandria is Midan tahrir, which is also popularly called Manshiya. This region was once the home to Diplomats and was called Place Des Consuls. The place between Al Horreya and el-Nabi holds great importance in Alexandria, as it is considered the burial place of Alexander the Great. According to historians, near to this place, the famous Alexandria Library was once located. One can also visit Mosque of Nebi Daniel here or the Greek necropolis in the proximity. He holds a great historic importance for the country, the city has preserved the many monuments, structures and interesting statues that takes one back to the era of Pharos and Cleopatra. The Canopic Way, the Gate of the Sun and the Gate of the Moon are few other intriguing places to visit in the Al Horreya area.

There are three weekly flights between Delhi and Alexandria. Kuwait Airways and Qatar Airways are two airlines that offer cheap flight bookings to its customer. Air Arabia on the other hand offers most one stop flights between Delhi and Alexandria. Tickets are easily available at affordable rates if booked online.
