Travelling with kids can be daunting, especially if you are planning to stay at a hotel and sharing a room with your little one. But by planning ahead and packing right, you can enjoy your stay with your kids. Check out the following tips that will help you stay in a hotel with children.

  1. Ensure the comfort first – Many hotel accommodations are built for business travellers and not for baby travellers. Therefore, if you are bringing your little one along with you, consider carrying some comforts of home along with you. Little things like a bed sheet, outlet cover, etc. won't consume too much space in your bag and will give you peace of comfort when your crawler happily explores the new surroundings.
  2. Ask, and you will get – From the high-end luxury hotel in New Delhi, like Imperial Hotel to the more affordable resorts in Jaipur, hotels offer many goodies to their guests as long as you are not afraid to ask. Eager to keep their 'small' guests, many hotels also offer colouring books, crayons, rubber ducks and more. Some hotels also have game rooms or libraries stacked with kid's books and board games.

Forgot to pack toys for your kids? Fret not, ask for those too. But remember, you won't get what you don't ask for.

3. Be specific before making a reservation – If you need a cradle, ask for it before you check-in, not after reaching there. If you need a mini-fridge to store the milk, confirm it ahead of time. You should also ask for the maximum occupancy of the room; most of the hotels have a limit, and it is good to ask in advance. Some top hotels in New Delhi, like Imperial Hotel, Delhi, offer specially modified rooms for single ladies. Equipped with special ladies amenities, these rooms are apt for you if you are travelling with your kid.

4. Be aware of hidden charges – Nothing mars a memory easily than sticker shock that comes with a bill at checkout. So to avoid any nasty surprises, ask in advance about fees for parking, rollaway beds and any other extra amenities that you may want to enjoy at the hotel.

While meals are usually included, many resort activities like kid camps, water sports, etc. may come with a hefty price tag.

Last but not the least, enjoy your trip and create some beautiful memories with your kids that you can cherish throughout your life.
