Las Vegas Travel Guide

Even for a while, stop thinking about the cash that could be won or wasted in Las Vegas casinos or the money that you could throw away in expensive stores, chef-owned restaurants and penthouse suites by the side of the Strip. The principal industry of the city is sensual overkill. Once you get to Las Vegas, you will be welcomed by the sounds, lights and parade of foreigners that are here to absorb the vibrations of the famous Sin City. All these are enough reasons to visit. This desert city, which bloomed when nearby Hoover Dam was constructed, is historical (where Elvis copycats are considered history) and known for bargains, especially when you wander away from the Strip and toward the Fremont Street Experience in the old business district.

Things to Do in Las Vegas

Whether you are here for the shows, the gambling, the food or simply the never-ending thrills, you can rely on the Las Vegas travel guide to show the way. Enjoy the following popular activities in the city:

  • Watching a show like the continuing variety of Cirque de Soleil productions
  • Gambling, despite of the quick turns
  • Admiring the Bellagio Fountains
  • Walking along the Strip
  • Trying any of the buffets, ranging from affordable meals to expensive dishes.
  • Looking over the Fremont Street Experience

Best time to Visit Vegas

Perhaps the best time to go to Vegas is when you have a lot of money to spend. Other than that, weather is not a problem when it comes to visiting the city since most of the people spend their time inside the casinos.

Winter can be a great time to see Las Vegas to experience mild weather (even if the nights can become unpleasantly cold) and fewer crowds. It can get too hot and dry during summer with a temperature of 100 degrees in the morning. However, if you are fond of swimming, it is best to come during summer since some of the hotel's big pools are partly closed from the latter part of fall until springtime.

Do Not Ignore

View the secret masterpiece of the city for free. Enter the Tower Suite VIP room at the Wynn to take a glimpse of one of four Rembrandt self-portraits, which is part of the private collection worldwide. The artist was only 28 when he painted Self Portrait with Shaded Eyes in 1634.

Get a treat at Qua, the latest spa at Caesars Palace. The Roman baths, which are spread across 50,000 square feet of space, consist of a tepidarium, caldarium and frigidarium, are meant for those who are serious about luxuriating. Don't forget to drop by the Arctic Ice Room: it snows when you push a button.

Certainly, there is a lot of hype about the Bellagio fountains. However, witnessing the water displays, dancing to the tunes of “Hey, Big Spender” and “Luck Be a Lady”, are really worth a couple of bumping elbows.
