It is advisable to visit the gardens in the evening as the sun starts to set, the whole garden is lit up. Right at 7 PM the garden begins a light, music, and dancing fountain show, which is the main attraction of the place. The place is thronged with locals as well as tourists who come there to relish the spellbinding show.
While you relish the natural allures of the place, you might also like to visit Mysore Zoo. Established according to the royal guidelines the park is famed as one of the oldest zoos in the world. It is one of the major attractions of the city and remains open from 8 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. all days in a week except for Tuesdays. Bliss to the nature-enthusiasts, the zoo is home to exotic animals from over 40 different countries including provincial flora and fauna. Bengal tigers, gorillas, gaur, hippos, elephants, African rhino, giraffe, etc. are the major attractions here. Inside the zoo is also the famous Karanji Lake, which, if visited in right season is perfect for bird watching as during the breeding season multiple species of migratory birds from all over the world flock to the lake.
