June is the first month of the summer season. It is said that June is a perfect month to bring a new life into the world. While June marks the end of spring and most new beginnings, it's also known as a great month to get married. If your plans this summer include Sun, Sand and Sea then here a great time to take that June vacation and visit Oahu. Oahu has lots to offer visitors this June. Here are a few event that might interest you during your visit:
Nightly (Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun) Weather-Permitting will be Authentic Hawaiian Music & Hula shows by Hawaii's finest hula halau (dance troupes) and Hawaiian performers. Opens with torch lighting ceremony and blowing of conch shell. From 6pm-7pm at the Kuhio Beach at Uluniu & Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki. Seating on the grass; beach chairs, mats, etc. okay. Cameras are welcome.
Last Friday of the Month – Mele at the Moana under the banyan tree at the Moana Surfrider – enjoy local-style music.
Every Saturday & Sunday, there is Art on the Zoo Fence in Waikiki where various artists personally present their wide range of art styles and subjects in original paintings, prints, and photography for view and sale.
Every Full Moon there are Moonwalks 2017 – June 8, July 6, August 5, September 3, October 1 at Waimea Valley on the north shore. $10 for walk only. There is a buffet for extra prior to the walk as well. You can begin your walk through the Valley to the waterfall at 8pm and must exit the Valley by 10pm.
50th State Fair – thrills and excitement with rides, games, food, and fun at Aloha Stadium.
38th Annual Pan-Pacific Festival is on June 9th – 11th, it features an eclectic assortment of cultural arts, crafts, and stage performances in a variety of events.
Revive the Live Music Festival is on June 9-11, it is the largest concert of the year, focused around Island and Reggae music and featuring over 20 local artists.
World Oceans Day is on June 10, under thetheme “Year of the Monk Seal” will include ocean education and sustainability activities, live entertainment, food booths and a sunset showing on the lawn of Disney's Moana film. Admission is free and open to the public. At Grand Lawn, Ulua Lagoon 4, Ko Olina Beach Park.
101st King Kamehameha Floral Parade on June 10. Floats, horse-riding units and vehicles, all decorated with flowers, will make their colorful way to Queen Kapiolani Park at the base of Diamond Head.
Global Wellness Day is also on June 10. How about adding some Yoga on the beach, running or walking to your day?
The 44th Annual King Kamehameha Hula Competition is on June 17, international hula competition includes both traditional and contemporary hula styles, featuring male and female groups and individual chanters.
