Mumbai to Goa is one of the most travelled upon routes.It is a perfect holiday destination with its pristine beaches and excellent scenery. From Mumbai, anyone can be reached by four travel mediums. One can fly, take a train, take a bus to drive. The aerial distance is 435 km, railway distance is 632 km, and road distance, 609 km.

Airway:

The Dabolim Airport is just about 30 km from its capital, Panjim. Taking a Mumbai to Goa flight is no doubt the fastest way to reach. It takes a little bit over an hour to reach there aerially. The airfare starts from around ₹2000.

The fastest Mumbai to Goa flight takes one hour and five minutes time. Currently, Go Air is the quickest service providing airline on this route.

Railway:

A Mumbai to Goa train takes around 12 hours. The train runs on the Konkan Railway line. A train journey is undoubtedly comfortable than the bus. Furthermore, the scenery on the way is beautiful. The only thing to keep in mind if you want to take a Mumbai to Goa train is to book early.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) is the station from which you can board on a train to Goa. Nevertheless, trains to Goa also depart from Lokmanyatilak Terminus in Mumbai's northeastern suburb.

Moreover, Goa has two major railheads: Madgaon and Thivim, connected by trains from all over India. The major railway station is Madgaon (MAO) located in South Goa. Though, when planning to visit North Goa, board a train that stops at Thivim (THVM).

The fastest Mumbai to Goa train is the newly introduced Mumbai CST-Karmali Tejas Express. It runs during the day and completes the journey in 8 hours 30 minutes. Even though, the most famous Mumbai to Goa overnight train is the Konkan Kanya Express. It arrives Madgaon at 10:45 AM, it also stops at Thivim in North Goa.

Roadway:

There are plenty of options if you decide to reach Goa by road. You can take a public state-operated bus; you can select from plenty private bus options, book a cab or drive yourself.

KSRTC, MSRTC and KTC are the government undertakings that operate from Madgaon, Vasco Da Gama and Panaji. Private bus operators include Neeta Tour and Travels, Paulo Travels, etc. There is daily bus service from Mumbai to Goa.

Going by cab will cost you anywhere around ₹5000, but it is an experience of its own to drive through the mesmerising Western Ghats to a destination.

There are two road routes to Goa: one is via NH 4 and the other via NH 66. The NH 4 route takes 10 hours 30 minutes to travel a distance of 590 km. The road is smooth and straight with four lanes all along, but with a lot of toll booths. Though it is faster and safer route to reach.

If you take the NH 66 route, you have to cover 577 km, and it will take a total of 12 hours to reach there. The road is not recommended for people with motion sickness. But the scenic beauty that the NH 66 route offers is terrific.
