During a flight there are certain issues that arise regarding one's health. The common ones are dehydration and jet bloating. Such discomfort is faced by many but these can quite easily be avoided by taking certain precautions.

Avoid Food Items Like French Fries: These fried quick bites might seem to be the best options when one wants a quick bite at the airport but they are really not good for our digestive system especially at high altitudes. These can cause bloating and excessive discomfort.

Avoid Apples and The Likes: Not just beans but fruits like apple and other fibre-full fruits cause gas and therefore lead to bloating.

Avoid Spicy Food: These can lead to an excessive discomfort and also bladder irritation which would cause a problem not just for you but at times even for your neighbours as it might cause bad breath.

Don't Chew Gum Constantly: These might help while takeoffs and landings but constant chewing of the gum lead to extra air in body which can cause gas as well as bloating.

Don't Consume Alcohol: Since there is less water in the blood when one is dehydrated, there is a chance of one leading to intoxication quite quickly. Also, it leads to a chance of potential hangover.

Consume Oranges: These are a source of Vitamin C and therefore can help you stay hydrated and also help your immune system against the 'full of germs airport.'

Sip on Herbal Teas: Since these are naturally decaffeinated, these drinks help you stay hydrated and also sooth your stomach as well.

Have that Delicious Yogurt: Yogurt will be a natural guard for your stomach with all those probiotics and help regulate your digestive system even at that height.

Consume Lean Proteins: These would give you energy for a longer time but obviously one has to choose wisely and avoid anything that's deep fried or even crusted. These are good but don't overload your body with proteins before flying.

And above all, keep sipping on water and stay hydrated. Since cabin pressure keeps changing every little while, water can help you stay comfortable. This small list of what to eat and what not to eat can help you enjoy your flight by helping you stay comfortable even 35,000 feet above the ground. Whatever the in – flight meal serves, be a little careful; feast your eyes if you may but for your taste buds, try and keep their satisfaction limited to the ground!
