A Long Weekend in Maldives

A Long Weekend in Maldives

The moment my family and I got to know we were going to have an official four-day long break from our institutes and workplaces, we knew it would be best if we spent it at a beach, away from the woes of our metropolitan lifestyle. The first thought that came to our excited minds was “Maldives”. We had heard a lot about the group of islands from our relatives and friends and had read tons of articles and essays in newspapers and magazines about it. We contacted Crown Tours Maldives to plan our weekend. We were explained how various Maldives adventure tour packages worked and we decided to go ahead with our tour operator’s recommendation.

The package included four days and three nights full of adventure and luxury. We reached the resort early in the morning, where we were served a healthy breakfast complete with tasty, traditional foods. After our stomachs were full, we went to the villa we have booked to unpack our luggage into the spacious wardrobes. Some rest and cleaning, we set about to explore the islands.

It was about noon when we went to the beach, with the sun shining brightly down upon us, and got ready for a game of volleyball. We befriended some other guests that agreed to play with us. After a heated game of about an hour, we decided to laze around at the beach and get some tan while the kids played in the crystal blue waters. We went back to the restaurant only to find lunch already prepared for us. The platter consisted of a variety of different dishes – Maldivian curry, charcoal-grilled king prawn, marinated lobster, freshly cooked tuna and many more. Once lunch was over, we went to our villa and took a quick nap in the comfort of the king sized bed. In the evening, we took a stroll around the island. After dinner, we went to sleep.

The entire second day was devoted to scuba diving. After a hearty breakfast, we set out to meet our instructor who then taught us the basic idea and made us familiar with the procedure. It was one hell of an adventure and it taught us different lessons such as teamwork and fighting our fears. Dinner was served and after bonfire and music, we all fell soundly asleep.
The third day was full of delight. When we were done with our morning meals, our butler told us we would be doing some fun activities that day. We went for snorkeling, where we were taught about the different methods and were given tips and tricks. The kids made sandcastles at the beach and pictures were taken as memories that would last a lifetime. We sat at the sunset, the scene so stunning and breathtaking that it immediately got registered in our photographic memories. Nothing I have ever seen has been so wonderful.

On the last day, we started packing and got ready to bid goodbye to our fellow tourists and, the resort staff and the team members. Full of memories and great hospitality that the island had provided us; we boarded our flight back home.
I would like to suggest everybody go visit Maldives at least once in their entire lifetime. They surely do not disappoint.
