While the summertime temperatures will make it nearly impossible to actually stroll and hike through this unique area, the winter times allow you to do exactly that for almost as long as you desire. The drawback o the winters in Death Valley are extreme swings to the colder side at night, but most who are actually touring will not be spending much time here after dark anyway. Death Valley is a unique place that is not fully mapped for GPS and which has limited services, so it is not a good idea to explore after dark anyway.
If you are planning to travel to Death Valley, it is best to start in Las Vegas as a starting point and drive in from there. It is an even better idea to allow a touring company based in Las Vegas to take care of the details for you, as they will be able to provide access to the best and most interesting areas without the danger of becoming lost. Death Valley National Park has always been recognized as more of the most beautiful and interesting places in the world, and now is the perfect time to experience it for yourself.
